STEVE SHOR: producer

With over twenty-five years in the motion picture industry, Steve Shor has worked in a variety of positions at a number of Studios.   His array of experience ranges from casting, production and agency/management positions.   Steve ’ s background includes four years as an architectural coordinator and systems manager for Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in conjunction with Universal Studios.  

Steve worked in RCA/Columbia Home Video in finance and moved on to Columbia Pictures as Manager of Features Administration for three years, where he oversaw the features division overhead as a financial analyst, as well as other activities in Studio Operations in the David Puttnam and Dawn Steel regimes.   Steve moved over to TriStar Pictures as Manager of Business Affairs Administration, a position he held for seven years.   There, he administered all development and above-the-line production deals on all TriStar projects.   He worked with the production group on all pictures in pre-production through release of the film.

Upon leaving TriStar, Steve started EarthArt Productions, where he developed and represented motion picture properties.   This operation merged with Red Sky Films, where Steve developed an independent film business plan to compliment Red Sky's successful commercial and interactive endeavors.  

Steve is currently an independent producer with a variety of projects in development.   He is known for quality material and has established solid relationships throughout the industry and at international film festivals.   He is an established production consultant.   He is also a guest instructor for the USC Professional Writing Program at the USC Film School.

Steve was on the screening committee for the AFI International Film Festival (ten years) and consults with other festivals.   He is also a board member of the Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Prize.   He was a sponsor for three years of the Mill Valley Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival and IFFCON. He has also been a juror or panelist at numerous festivals.

On the Environmental front, Steve was a founding board member of ECO (the Earth Communications Office), was on the board of Friends of the River and an advisory board member of the American Oceans Campaign.   He has also been active in premiere/fundraising for Heal the Bay and Earth Justice.   He is currently on the advisory board of Oceana.
