Anthony Anderson to receive Rising Star Award
DIFF is please to announce that Anthony Anderson will receive the 2006 Rising Star Award at this year's festival. An actor, writer, producer and comedian, Anderson first gained attention as one of Jim Carrey's sons in Me, Myself and Irene and has subsequently appeared in such blockbuster films as Hustle & Flow, Barbershop, Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, Agent Cody Banks 2, Scary Movie 3 & 4, Exit Wounds, Two Can Play That Game and Malibu's Most Wanted.
A graduate of Howard University and the recipient of the NAACP's ACTSO Awards for his performance of the classic monologue from The Great White Hope, Anderson has also made numerous appearances on the small screen, including Ally McBeal, The Shield, About the Andersons, J.A.G. and N.Y.P.D. Blue.
Keep a look out for two feature films with Anderson scheduled to premiere later this year: The Last Stand, starring Anthony, and The Departed.
Anderson will be in attendance at the festival in November to accept his award.
