JESSY TERRERO: DIRECTOR

JESSY TERRERO (Director) marked his feature film directorial debut with Soul Plane (MGM 2004). Terrero’s short film, The Clinic, was chosen to screen at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival and has been screened at the New York International Latino Film Festival, Urbanworld, and the Los Angeles Short Film Festival. He was selected to be a participant in Fox Searchlight Pictures’ new digital production unit, Fox Searchlab, which recognizes and mentors emerging filmmakers with exciting new cinematic voices.

Terrero shot his first student film on Super 8. After college, he landed an associate producer internship with the romantic comedy I Like It Like That. In 1996, he teamed up with his brother and formed T&T Casting, supervising extras casting for low-budget films.

While working as a casting agent, Terrero spent months juggling auditions, between casting sessions. Terrero’s acting credits include speaking roles in Law & Order, Brooklyn South, The Sopranos as well as the first Spanish-language S.A.G. film, In Search of a Dream. In addition to all of this, Terrero made his first music video for Ghetto Concept, which was nominated for a Much Music Award in Canada.

During the summer of 2000 Terrero shot his third music video for Jill Scott, which garnered critical acclaim and music video award nominations from MTV and Billboard Magazine for Gettin’ In The Way, which Terrero followed up with the MTV buzz-worthy follow-up Long Walk.

Terrero’s video work includes Ludacris featuring Mary J. Blige Runaway Love featuring actress Keke Palmer from Akeelah and the Bee and Julito McCullum from The Wire as well as Michael Rappaport and Kim Delaney. Jessy most recently directed the new Enrique Iglesias video for I’m Tired of Being Sorry as well as the latest Carlos Santana video featuring Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger. He is also in post-production for new Dominican artist Kat DeLuna’s next video Am I Dreaming? which was shot on location in Santo Domingo. Jessy’s last video for Enrique Iglesias’ Do You Know peaked at #2 on MTV’s TRL and is currently in high rotation. Terrero also directed Daddy Yankee Rompe (nominated for MTV’s Best Hip-Hop video 2006) and Gangsta Zone, Wisin & Yandel Yo Te Quiero, Luny Tunes Noche de Entierro and Aventura Los Infieles. To date, Terrero has worked with 50 Cent on Candy Shop (nominated for a 2005 MTV Video Music Award for Best Male Video) and Many Men; Lionel Richie on I Call it Love; Chris Brown on Say Goodbye; and Syleena Johnson on Hypnotic and I Am Your Woman, which was nominated for Billboard Magazine’s Video Music Awards Best New Adult Contemporary New Artist Clip of the Year 2001. , Sean Paul We Be Burning and Never Gonna Be the Same and Teairra Mari No Daddy. recently completed a documentary on pro skate boarder Stevie Williams. He is currently in post-production on an independent thriller set in New York called Brooklyn to Manhattan, which stars an ensemble cast including Evan Ross (ATL, Pride), Dania Ramirez (XMen 3: Last Stand, Fat Albert), Arielle Kebbel (John Tucker Must Die, Aquamarine) and Sean Farris (Yours, Mine and Ours and Sleepover).
